On Nov. 5 Â鶹´«Ã½AV began tracking daily the percentage of Americans who are confident or not confident in Barack Obama's ability to be a good president.
Returning and newly elected members of the U.S. Congress have their work cut out for them as they gather in the nation’s capital Tuesday to open the 111th Congress; only 19% of the American public approved of the way Congress handled its job on average in 2008, the lowest yearly average of the decade so far.
Â鶹´«Ã½AV Poll Daily tracking continues to find 93% of liberal Democrats expressing confidence in Barack Obama, despite news reports that they are unhappy with some of his recent actions. Meanwhile, conservative Republicans' views of Obama have improved in recent weeks, up from 23% to 29%.
The Republicans in Congress (25%) rank below George W. Bush (29%) in terms of their job approval ratings. The Democrats in Congress are rated slightly better (37%). Meanwhile, Barack Obama continues to get high marks for how he is handling his presidential transition.
